H2O CONCLUSIONS: Where Does Water Come From?
Understanding Water Systems and Clean Water Science For Homeschoolers Ages: 5–18
Course Description H2O: Where Does Water Come From? is a science-based course designed for homeschool students that explores the origin, movement, treatment, and conservation of water. Students will study the water cycle, weather patterns, watersheds, groundwater systems, freshwater and saltwater ecosystems, and the role water plays in sustaining life on Earth. Through hands-on investigations, laboratory activities, research projects, and engineering challenges, students will examine how water is collected, stored, transported, filtered, and purified for human use. Students will learn the principles of water filtration and water treatment, including physical, chemical, and biological methods used to remove contaminants and improve water quality.
Course topics include:
● The water cycle and Earth’s water systems
● Weather, precipitation, and climate connections
● Surface water and groundwater resources
● Watersheds and ecosystem health
● Water quality testing and analysis
● Water filtration and purification methods
● Engineering design of water filtration systems
● Municipal water treatment processes
● Water conservation and sustainability
● Environmental stewardship and resource management Students will participate in age-appropriate scientific inquiry, data collection, observation, experimentation, and problem-solving activities aligned with science education standards.
The course promotes scientific literacy, environmental awareness, critical thinking, and practical application of STEM concepts through real-world investigations of water resources and clean water technologies.
